Key Stage 3 - Years 7-9 (ages 11 to 14)
The start of Key Stage 3 is a transition year when students are moving from the Primary school to Secondary School. Specialist subjects begin to embed subject knowledge in preparation for the International Graduate Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations:
During Key Stage 3 we encourage active learning, critical thinking and excellent communication skills including taking part in debates and giving presentations. Our students represent the school at various functions and participate in the student council and other meetings.
An integral part of learning is the use of the Virtual Learning Platform (Google Classroom) and taking part in projects within the school including competitions in Poetry Writing, Science Fair, Mathematics Mangahigh, Dance, Art and many others.
The curriculum is based on the CAIE Curriculum and offers the following subjects: English, Maths, Science, Global Perspectives, Information Communication and Technology (ICT), Russian, Kyrgyz, Art, Physical Education (PE), Geography and History.
Learning is frequently enhanced by various activities, experiments and trips in order to allow students to see the learned topics embedded in practice.
KS4, Years 10-11 ages 14-16
From Year 10, students will get the opportunity to opt for a range of different subjects to study in detail through the IGCSE program: Humanities or Sciences Pathways.
During Year 10 and 11, our students study to take the IGCSE program. Students will get the opportunity to opt for a range of specialist subjects to study in more depth during this time and will find that the expectations placed upon them by teachers will be commensurate with the work required to attain the very highest grades in IGCSE.
In KS4 there will be an opportunity to study further languages. Students who are neither native nor fluent English speakers, will receive additional support from our English as an Additional Language (EAL) team.
We offer a wide variety of courses including: Russian, Kyrgyz, Physical Education (PE), Business Studies, Economics, and Geography. It is of course also compulsory to study English, Maths, Science (Combined or Coordinated Sciences) and ICT.
